Sale on 30 inch round Shield Blanks

Postby Fitz Caliston » Mon Dec 13, 2010 7:52 pm

Greetings all!

I've been recieving alot of PM's and Emails about the Shield Foam I've been providing here in Utah to the Boffer comunity. A few responses I've recieved after quoting was that Shipping cost almost as much as the Foam itself. So I've decided to run a special (while supplies last).

These 30 inch diameter Blanks are all 2.4 pound black Polyplank, 2.5(+) inches thick. All these rounds are skived, meaning they have don't have a skin on the faces. Being a higher poundage foam the exposed cells are small.

Image

I normally sell 30 inch rounds at $25 when I'm having to purchase a full sheet of foam and cut them out so it normally doesn't make shipping worthwhile. However, thanks to the discount deal I got from my supplier I can sell these 30inch Blanks at $15 each + S&H (while supplies last). Hopefully that will help offset the cost of shipping.

Check out my website for Shipping details: www.calistonarmory.com

Thanks all,
-Fitz

If I were to mail you a money order, and paid regular price, would you still sell/ship one or do you only accept paypal?

Or WU?

I don't care how the money gets here or what method it uses, I just don't ship until it's cleared and in my account.

OH!!! In a conversation this morning I realized that I forgot to mention that these rounds are all Skived meaning they don't have a skin on both faces. Being a high density the exposed Cell are small. Editing the originial to refelect!

I wish to make a charachter reference for this man.

Fitz and I have known each other from the beginning of my foam career. We dont always see eye to eye on things. However, when it comes to making a purchase from him you can do this with confidence. You will receive your product as described in a timely manner.

Urgh! The second set of boxes that I got were glued together incorrectly and make the overall demensional size bump up to the DIM weight. Can't ship more blanks until I get that fixed.

It was quite a surprise when the UPS lady that has helped me 3 times this week said my total was $24 more then what I expected it to be... Luckily we figured it out (this was the first box of the new batch that I've used) and she let it slide this 1 time at the old measurements.

But yeah, taking boxes back to get resized tomorrow.

If that doesn't work I may have to start triming the 30's down to 29's and get the boxes made smaller just to be on the safe side.

So I went back to the box manufacturer and we looked at the boxes, the second boxes were cut from the same file as the first set on the CNC cutting machine and were glued properly. We talked to his UPS rep and they say that the stores must be rounding the measurements up to the nearest number and that the Attendant that help me ship the first batch of orders must have rounded down because at 30x30x5 it's the nice cheep shipping, when it goes to 31x31x6 it breaks into the DIM weight which is like 2-3 times more expensive.

I can't do much to the thickness measurement since the blanks are 2.5 inches thick but if I manually trim the diameter of each down a bit and get the Box to 29x29x6 then we should be good.

So, unless you want to pay a ton for shipping, the blanks will have to be cut down to just under 29 in the future (I prefer a 28 myself).

Fitz
ps I should have the new boxes on monday, his CNC cutter was booked for the rest of the day.

UPS is always screwing us on boxes. We got hit with an oversized 3 charge once. It was like +$50.

Yeah, and thier online tools SUCK!!!!

As a side note if your only looking for 1 blank and would like it to be the full 30inch diameter I've started shipping them out wrapped in just butcher paper and tape. Then you don't have to pay for a box and the shipping hasn't been above $15 for anyone so far. So at max you'd be looking at $30 each for a 30 inch round which is still a perty good price after shipping.

If you go the Paper wrapped single blank route you take the responsibility if the blank gets squished. It's a little less convienent for me because I have to wrap them individually but if it helps sell more of them I'm cool with that.

I bought one this weekend through Isk when he traveled up that way. I'm very excited to make a good sized strap.

I was glad that Isk actually made it up. I'm wondering how he made it back with all that foam and his family, He went home with 10 mediums rounds, 2 large Tears, 10 arrow tip kits, and a fiberglass slat I use for centergrips.

That bites.

Well, actually, I guess they bite; but that's rude to point out ;)

Hey all, I just put a downpayment on this sewing machine
Image

So I'm in serious need of space (and money wouldn't hurt) so I'm going to offer a blow out sale this week only on Shield Blanks. Get your unit together and Buy 10 or more Blanks and I'll drop the price to $10/blank + shipping.

Blow out sale ends friday January 14th. (I have to pick up the machine on Saturday and will have to have my workshop redesigned/cleared out by then)

Do this.

These blanks are awesome. I was beating one with a red last night and it provided excellent protection for the guy's arm, and was exceedingly light enough to keep maneuvering without fatigue.

So I had 11 indivudals/Groups contact me about the 10 for $10/each special this week. Only 3 groups came through with orders, others just couldn't get enough comittment in time.

I did get my workshop restructured today (though it's a complete mess at the moment) and the new addition is in place. I still however have a bunch of these Blanks that I don't have room for unless I put them back in my workshop. I really don't want to do that, I have limited space in there as it is. So to get them out of my living room I'm offering them at the same $10 rate so long as you get 2 (wraping them in paper actually costs me about $2.50 in paper and tape, and a pack of 2 only uses about 6 inches more of the paper then a single).

Help yourselves while they last and help me get these out of my house!

I'm looking forward to what this machine will do once I've got it fine tuned!

Joe, if you order it from him now, I could pick it up from the event if I go. Otherwise, there are a few fighters who live in ventura but visit us occasionally who are going to it who might be willing to pick it up for you.

Update:

The $10 30" blanks are just about all gone. The only ones I have that are not paid for are for folks that said they'd pay by the end of this week. So if they haven't paid by then I'll let folks know that they are available.

I also have 20 that are paid for to be delivered at events over the next month but some of those may be substituted for other shapes.

Currently the rest of my foam is of the 1.8-2lb variety and ranges between 2" thick and 4" thick. So if your interested in that stuff I'll still be able to any Amtgard medium range Shield for $10.
