personal injury B.O.W. Appendix A 1.3.1 & 1.3.2

Postby nashova » Tue Jul 19, 2005 7:20 pm

In Appendix A the rule 1.3.1 & 1.3.2 under General Weapon Checking Conventions it states that a weapon must be padded adequately to prevent personal injury when striking an opponent with full force. Is brusing considers personal injury?

I would consider a bruise to be a personal injury, so my answer is yes. You can ask that another person check the weapon to make sure that it is safe to continue using. However, I have seen people who bruise easily under normal circumstances bruise from being hit with a foam weapon, so that could be your problem as well.

No, a bruise isn't an injury. Bruises are something that will occur in a contact sport like this. To be honest, I'm not sure what that wording was going for.

I'd define injury as causing extreme pain, breaking the skin, breaking bones, straining or pulling tendons and ligaments, etc. It is late at night out here or I might be a little more coherent.

I'm with Kyrax. A bruise is not an injury. All of our weapons can cause bruises - it's part and parcel to being a strong-hitting sport.

"Injury" is basically broken bones and severe pain.

Bruising is very person specific. Some people bruise very easily, others not at all.

A weapon should not bruise everyone it hits, where ever it hits.

A perfectly safe weapon may cause an occasional bruise in a sensitive area, on some people.
