Latex weapons.

Postby Ryoma » Sun Aug 14, 2005 12:41 pm

I know that latex weapons aren't allowed, and I know that they probably never will be, and I don't ever intend to get one.

I'm currently in a conversation on another forum with a LARPer from Scotland, and I'm wondering just why we don't allow them, out of pure curiosity.

Actually, Edhellen has been working on developing latex weapons. The bottom line as to why they're not legal (yet) is because latex weapons are not designed for full-contact swings as we do in Belegarth. They're primarily for light contact or tap fighting. When you swing at the power level we're accustomed to, it literally goes straight to core. Don't get me wrong. I love the way they look and I would personally like to see weapons that more closely resemble the real thing.
