Armor Rule Shady

So lets just "say" that i have really flappy skirt armor. Then galin comes up and hits me in this armor and then i get away. Then while i was running away angel hits me in this flappy skirt and i'm dead. Why am i dead???? isnt that armor gone??? i mean if you hit someones pants you dont take a leg. Its purpose has been used and now it should be garb. Fill me in why this should make any sense.
