Hits to armor that wouldn't have hit body

Postby Tiberius Claudius » Tue Jan 25, 2011 12:48 am

Looking at this picture: Image (Thanks to Harbainian's geddon page)

What would the result be from a strike that only hits the protruding armor on the shoulders, or even the groin protector, but would otherwise have been a clean miss were it not present? Graze? Light? Garb?

Since armor doesn't get broken, only the target area underneath, calling "armor" would seem to be inappropriate.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

It's tough to gauge what angle of swing would hit armor on this and NOT something behind it. The fighter should always err on the side of caution, and take anything he's not sure of, but the appropriate call would be garb.

Some of my armor protrudes...when I get hit in the armor I take it, even if I think it might have missed otherwise. I feel better as a player to, like Par said, err on the side of caution.

The easy answer would be to not make retarded armor that puts you in this position in the first place.
