1.4.1.5. The minimum overall length of a Class 1 is 12 inches plus the length of the handle and pommel.
If I'm making a sword, does this mean that the blade must be at least 12" long? It reads kind of weird, so I'm just making sure before I apply DAP and glue away a small side arm.
The sword is simply a side arm, in case I lose my shield to a red, or have to get in very close (where a longer weapon would be much more cumbersome).

It reads the way it does to allow for a weapon like an axe that has a haft.
If you're making a normal sword, then yes, the blade must be 12" long.
