Shield padding.

Postby Hillshum » Wed Apr 13, 2011 2:38 pm

What level of padding is considered necessary for shields? Must it be open-celled foam, or is a few inches of closed-cell sufficient?

Can a shield be covered in duct tape?

Edit: No, I inherited a shield with the above description from a friend, and I'm wondering if I need to change anything.

Closed cell is fine. There's no rule against covering a shield in duct tape, however if you don't put a cover over it you will be ridiculed incessantly because it will look awful. Really, sewing isn't hard. Or is the duct tape intended to be structural?
