a 3.4.3 question

Postby Marrow » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:14 am

we have a fighter in my realm who makes it a habit to make two rapid strikes (less than .5 second delay) to the same leg on an opponent in order to score a kill. He is generating sufficient force for both hits, but my issue is that he is giving the defender no time to do as they should and take a knee.

3.4.3.3 states that subsequent class 1 & 2 leg strikes should be ignored, but
3.7.6 and 3.7.7 both continue that if you dont have your bad knee on the ground, either leg is a fair target.

Would i be correct to cite 1.4 in this circumstance, or should his speed and strength be rewarded with his cheeseball leg kills?

Edit: yeah, he's a beastly 6'6" lineman with an 8' "glaive."
I appreciate the quick reply.

3.4.3.3. All subsequent strikes to a Leg disabled by a Class 1 or 2 weapon are ignored.

The rule 3.7.6 that you refer to only refers to situations where both knees are on the ground, or the opponent is rolling and/or lunging and is on the ground. 3.4.3.3 applies until the legged person is on the ground.

Also, it is very difficult to land 2 solid shots within a half second of each other consistently. If the attacker in this case is not reloading his weapon and swinging through at least 45 degrees of arc, he probably isn't hitting hard enough that most Belegrim would take the second shot as sufficient, unless he is very strong.

the reality is though, if both shots are sufficient for you, then you would be dead.

Bo, I agree that's how it is interpreted most often, but the rules as written seem to indicate that only the first hit to a leg counts. This is probably something that should be clarified by WC as the rules as they are written now is not ambiguous, but goes against the way the rule has been interpreted since this sport began.

To clarify for the original poster: the letter of the rules say only 1 hit counts. The way the rule is played nationally is that if both hits are good enough, then both legs are disabled, in contradiction to the letter of the rule.

if the knee is not on the ground, then you do not get the benifit of dead leg.

I have absolutely always seen this taken as a death. Learn to drop to your knees quicker. If he's hitting hard enough and fast enough to count, there's nothing cheesy about it.
