Double-Ended Weapons handle question

Postby Bain » Sat Nov 05, 2011 1:04 pm

I have a question... I was thinking of making a 6' long double-ended weapon and according to the rules you can only have 24 inches of handle. Is there any rule about breaking up the handle length into two different sections?

something like this...
= incidental padding
- unpadded handle
( striking surface
((((((((--=====--))))))))

EDIT:

Are you allowed to check somebody with a two-handed weapon like you do in hockey if there is 18 inches of striking surface between your hands? I heard a "probably not" once before at practice then never followed it up. (just think replace incidental padding with a strike legal padding and presume it passes for hit)

No there is not, however many weapons checkers will frown upon having the padding where it doesn't help a bit.

Most quarterstaves are padded that way. it should be fine.

In response to your edit, cross checking a shield is legal. cross checking a person is probably not as cool. just do it safely or not at all.
