Hoping these fail

Please tell me that there is no way to build these and that they fail for being able to have a punching action or some other reason:

Ugh...playing devils advocate...if you build #1 as a double ended weapon with a curved core and without the blade in front of the center handle, would that pass?

I am sorry...this year's new recruits have started thinking.

#1 The Bat'leth has been discussed before, it's pretty hard to make them without the punching factor, but a curved q-staff is the closest you could get.

#2 is basically a knife with a sharpened guard. No the guard cannot be striking or you get into the punch weapon thing, but you could build the shape and have only the "blade" part be striking.

Niether one, whe built, is going to look anything like the pictures of them though. The first will be wierd and the second will look mostly like a * n' balls.
