Red vs Strap/Red vs Punch

So I heard from someone that a red swing breaks punch shields in one hit. Having heard about a rule change recently I decided it might not be *, and checked up on it. I cannot find anything in the BoW that alludes to punch shield rules being different than strap shield rules. After having learned that the rule change seems to have pertained mostly to arrows, I figure this was nonsense after all, but just want to be certain.

Is there any truth to this?
