What is it? And how does it effect the game?

Anviling is when a fighter lays a weapon across a strike zone to prevent damage either accidentally or intentionally. This also applies to sheathed weapons and is specifically banned by the BoW.

It's basically a way of cheating the rules to claim a fair shot was parried when it actually wasn't.
