Hand Guards

Now, I know that cross guards are legal, but what about full hand guards, like those of cavalry sabers and such?
I know that in Dag, they were illegal, but I can't find anything in the Book of War about them.

Yes, they are legal.
It used to be that any kind of hand guard or basket hilt had to be under 12 inches, so not to be minimum shield size. We also used to have a rule that shields couldn't be used as weapons, but that apparently has gone away. Now i suppose it's up to weapon checker discretion.
