armor question

Is there any advantage to wearing plate as no matter what armor you have you only get 1 point.also plate can not start a grapple. so what's preventing me or anyone just going leather besides the look aspect .

The look is basically the only reason people opt for plate. That's why you don't see much of it on the field.
There is no in game advantage to wearing plate.

There is no in game advantage to wearing plate.
Other than it makes it harder to feel hits.
Just adding this for the sake of completeness. A lot of fighters that wear plate are a lot harder to kill, and I don't mean because they are real bad-asses.
