Alternative Armor Materials

Postby Vrohi » Sat Nov 08, 2014 5:11 pm

Are there other materials that you can make armor out of? In the Book of War it only lists Metal and Leather. I have a friend who has a lot of experience working with foam to make really awesome cosplay pieces, that he claims could stand up to Belegarth Combat. Im not sure however if it would count as armor. I know people use plastic like Hockey Gear as armor as long as it is dressed up as garb it is usually ok. So what are the specs on something like this?

Unfortunately, no. Armor confers an in-game advantage, so there must be a trade off in weight/mobility/encumbrance/etc. To do this, we require that armor must be made out of period(ish) materials -- leather, bronze, copper, iron, steel, etc.

Any 'armor' made out of plastic and/or foam may be allowed as garb, but it will not count as armor for purposes of gameplay. One thing to keep in mind is that very realistic looking 'armor' that does not abide by the rules may actually be disallowed as it may be confusing to other fighters who might assume it is real armor.
