Ask Your Chaos Wars 15 questions here!

Postby Shino » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:05 am

This is a thread for asking/answering questions which may not necessarily need their own threads.
If you're new to Chaos, returning or just scratching your head this is the place to ask your questions! You can also share your answers here!

Posting FAQ &As are welcome.

This thread isn't for discussing big event details like banner points, pre reg or tournament structures. Such topics are too big for this here thread.

Thanks Belgrim!

Wasn't it the person that 'poisoned' the food at Three Fates that won, I can't recall her name, but if I remember correctly thats how she won.

No, Fhirrin didn't win. She did do that though. Somebody else from another camp, I think it was Shannara, did the same thing and got more though.

What are the rules for 16 year olds, I have heard so many different things its not even funny. I have heard that you need a parent's signature only. I have heard that you need a parent's signature notarized, that you need your parents to attend. (That would * me over.) That your parents can assign a guardian, etc. Will someone please set me straight once and for all, that way I can start planning my strategy on how to convince them to let me go.

If your parents ARE NOT with you at the event you need a pre-signed AND NOTARIZED waiver brought to the event. And you also need somebody to be your chaperone.

If your parents ARE with you at the event, you do not need a notarized waiver and they can sign the waiver at the event.

Trust me, I know these things, I've been to 5 events so far and had to deal with this for 4 of them. It's annoying, but it's ends eventually.

And also someone from your realm needs to agree to be responsible for you while you're there.

McGee, talk to me at practice or call me 207-4028. I can help you with this stuff, and I can be your chaperone. If you need me to talk to your parents or anything like that, just let me know. Events are what this is all about, so I will totally help you get there.

Yeah, going to events as a minor isn't that hard. Just make sure you don't forget your waiver at home. It sucks getting to the end of the 6 hour drive and finding you left it.

I mentioned this before somewhere, but is it still possible that I can still try and generate enough interest to hold a fire show to kick off sin night using the awesome skills of any belegarthers who wish to participate? This is something that the event won't need to provide for, it will all be "bring your own fire".

This is for people who all randomly fire breath, fire hoop, fire poi, fire staff and etc. I want to try and get everyone who's comfortable enough to all be fire rockin.

Bring your own fire and water/ wet towels/extinguishers/ and safety assistants. Yeah, sounds cool. Something like this before or after Gladiator Pits on Wednesday would be a lot of fun. Probably afterward because it will be dark then?

I'd say, generate some support (not in this thread) and get some people who WILL be there to perform and support first. Practice on Monday/Tuesday a bit and go for it. Have some people helping who are dedicated to being fire safety crew.

I know, it's a bit of a necro, but it's necessary.

I'd just like to clarify that Fhirrin did not attempt the aforementioned method. It was brought to my attention that the duct tape involved was holding cereal containers together and was not "poison". My most sincere apologies to Fhirrin for the stupid oversight and assumption on my part. Forgive me please?

Ok another minor's waiver question. Just for clarity, does a waiver need both parents signatures or just one? In the cases where the parents are separated, do both need to be notarized separately?

Are there any extra details I should be aware of coming from out of country?

Edit: Also another question, what exactly is the age max that needs a minors waiver? I was just reading the camping guide and remembered that wile 18 is the age of adulthood here in Canada it isn't in many place in the USA. Who needs a minors waiver?

18 is age of adulthood in USA, except you need to be 21 to drink and gamble; so, anyone under the age of 18 will need a minor waiver, and anyone under 21 will not be able to imbibe.

Anyone want to answer the other half of the question? The waiver only has a place for one signature, so I guess I only need one?

I've thought about doing this for years. Lazy camp has been suprisingly deviod of hammocks... As for the bug net, I have yet to see the insects be bad to the point of needing a net, the area usually gets carpet bombed before the event. Bring one if you've got it, but don't drop extra cash for it.

I'm with Valas; I'm pretty sure we might be showing up late Sunday...

Ditto-

After 14 hours driving, I would rather arrive late Sunday than late Monday. As usual, down to help out with whatever needs to be taken care of Sunday & Monday.

No. doing that for individuals creates a while new level of complexity that our simple sword fighter thought processes cannot compute.

Pretty much there is no advantage to preregistering if you can't attend the full week. There is a break down for registering at Troll when you arrive later into the week so just plan on that.

A better explanation is in this thread.

So has anyone thought about calling or letting albertson, snowbunny, and the liquor store know that we're coming the week of 25th?

Traditionally some people have shown up on Sunday evening and set up their camps and helped do last second site preparation.

There isn't any fighting cause the event hasn't started yet and there is no weapon check.

So yeah, it's fine.

Sunday night show up is for Event Staff and people who have 12+ hour drives. This way we aren't using Jeff's property too much. The port-a-potties wont even be there till Monday.

Our drive is going to be around 10 hours, is it all right if we come Sunday? If not, we'll have to stay in a hotel.
