Postby Elyk » Mon Mar 27, 2006 6:35 pm

How do you guys make rocks out of your leftover foam? Tape it all together, glue it, stuff it all in there. Just thought I'd ask befor I started throwin' cement balls at people. :D

just stuff it in. NO glue, NO tape. Pack it in a firm as possible so it hass some mass to travel in the air yet cushy enough that you would want to sleep on it.

1.4.9. Class 5 Weapons have a minimum diameter of 4 inches and are constructed entirely of foam, cloth and tape (coreless).

So you can use tape, however any tape other than cloth tape on the strike surface is discouraged.

How would you do that? Even if you made one of your foam rocks look exactly like a real one, there is still a major weight difference between a foam rock and a real rock.

Brother BAM should know about chemical warfare. BAM, did I hear you made a dude choke on the field with a fart? Some kinda deterrent to attacks from the rear? Heck, people get mad when I spit tobacco juice on the field, but YOU DA MAN!

I recently came on an abundance of carpet foam. That crap is great for rocks and absolutely nothing else. Except maybe padding a carpet, but who the hell would ever do that?

They aren't really cheap..... I just think that they're pointless and stupid..... Don't you have to hit your opponent in the head?

Yeah, but that's the only legal target. Think about it; a well built rock will not hurt on contact no matter how hard it's thrown (unless it hits your open eye), and the head is about the smallest target as far as the game is conerned. Factor in the prevalence of shields, and you have a rather limited weapon.

So yeah, they're cheap to make, but very limited on the field.

What you fail to see is most people feel the same way you do Luink, they aren?t expecting to be hit in the head by a rock, and unlike javs or arrows, rocks can be very easily concealed so your opponent doesn?t know you have them, they are very good weapon if you take the time to learn to fight with them correctly. If you want a good example, Koom is a very effective rock fighter.

Flying rocks also tend to be a distraction. If your opponent is looking out for your rockthrowing friends' projectiles, he's an easier target for your blade, potentially.

I thought I could interject:

I was talking to zao and he said that the round open cell poof balls that you get at walmart are great for rocks just sew a cover for it and your done. Plus the smush easy so you can fit a few in one hand.

I've got a quick question. The BoW says that rocks must be 4" in diameter, but that's a little ambiguous, especially when rocks aren't perfect spheres (mine are kinda lumpy, and more oval-y). Does that mean 4" at the narrowest point? That's the standard I've been making rocks by, so it shouldn't be a problem either way, but a little clarification would be nice.

I guess i'm not exactly "qualified" to answer, but I believe it's at its widest point. EX: a frisbee needs to be at least x'' wide, not thick.

In argument for rocks, I killed about 3 guys at a practice with 'em the other day. I use em for when their back is turned for only a moment. Not long enoughe to sneak up on em, and too far away to just hit. Good fun to himiliat people with em too.

If it were at the widest point, then I could legally make a stick into a rock. Or at least make a stick shaped rock.

Try faking like you're gonna throw a rock at your opponent's legs. Unless they know what you're doing, their first instinct will be to block it, and if they do, it leaves their head open for a nice big stinky sock surprise. And it makes them look and feel WAY RETARDED that they just tried to block a rock that didn't end up going to somewhere that it wouldn't do any harm anyway. Make sure you laugh at them when it works. The best * rock technique i've found.

i make rocks and i have learned how to fight with them quite well and if i don't hit someone in the head with it they are distraced enough for you to get a shot off.
do not hate those who kill you or feel less of those who you kill.
feeling proud is not as important as having friends around you.

If they are large enough, then yeah, they should be legal.
