I would love to see the styles of weapons people build, whether it be a shield, dagger or redsword. Throw some pics of your killing tools here, I need to look at em!

Interesting, how did you make it? (i'm also a spier wielder and I'm getting tiered of getting rushed)

These are my babies, the tallest one is 78 inches and weighs about 5 or 10 poundz, I haven't put it on a scale. I've found, the best way to deal with shield welders who charge, is run away. But if they got you, charge them, I have knocked a few of them down, but I get steam rolled when I charge larger dudes...

I say spearing shield, because i think that's what it will work best for.

I have been and will be using it for more than spearing though. for just going axe and shield (or sword and shield) it really does not do well to protect my legs, so i need to be very mobile. spearing, if you are in a line, it should work well since legs will not get hit AS OFTEN when fighting in a line.

it's the second shield that i've made, and both so far have used parts of an white-water canoe as core (not wooden or aluminum! It looked like fiberglass, but I think my dad said it was vinyl).

i cut the shape, attatched sections from a leather belt to it, roughed up the surface, glued foam to it, added foam around one point of the arm to make it comfortable/stable, added foam around the edges, covered the back in black duct-tape so it was.. black, and covered the front in a green cover, then covered it with a black one which i cut designs out of then sewed on. then i sewed the brown piece of fleece between the two covers.

it took me two nights to make... probably around 3 hours a night. but i was reading and watching tv (daily show/colbert report) while the glue was drying.

um.. the hand of the arm that the shield is on... holds onto the spear (either upper handle or lower handle) and your other hand also does (either lower or upper) and then you spear people..


it's to be used like a large buckler, in that sense.

The cover is not final, we had no cloth so I pulled down one of our old curtains...

* that guy had enough weapons for a small legion! And the magpie has the most distinctive shield I have seen so far. Now someone show me a warhammer, I've only seen one........a long time ago....

Is that a hand guard? or an extention of the blade? I will be posting pics of my sword(my second sword to make) and spear(first spear made) once the batts are charged =P.

Yeah, its technically part of the blade but has tape wrapped around it so it isn't a striking surface. More than a few times I have had my thumbs crushed by another weapon while blocking, nothing beats having to call it a day because your thumb is almost broken...lol

I'll probably post pics of mine after I get back from Spring War; I just got done forcing my duffle bag closed (Two Pillows and a sleeping bag, and a small amount of other necessities, make it tough to shut those things) and so I'm worn out, plus I need to get some sleep.

And it came out that good, now I am thinking of making a supersized redsword curved like that......might be quite the task though....lol

Its times like this that makes me wish I had a digital camera.

Well, since I don't know how to get a picture onto there, I'll just tell you that my weapons are a flail and my punch shield..... My shield is like a rectangular shape with one of the top corners (my weapon side). I like it that way. My flail is just a normal old flail, lol.....

Luink, you have the craziest shield I've ever seen.

Now these ones are very cleanly made, or their just not used much, I know my sword gets all tattered after each day of fighting with it.

Hey, I have a question. When you curve your swords, the boiling the PVC in really hot water way, does it actually work harden it so you dont gotta reinforce it?

I love looking at new weapons!

This is the first sheild I've ever made- its 30 in. tall by 20 in. wide and about 2 1/2 inces think with blue foam and open cell foam. It has the two leather handles on the back and a shoulder strap. I tested it out on my little sister and she said it didn't hurt when I hit her with it, haha. I"ll be painting the cover soon!

me and my friend just built a shield out of a skin board, it wieghs alot

Dude, please crop your image (so that we see less of the wall, which isn't your weapon) and shrink it down, so it takes less time to load. Actually, cropping it would probably take care of the loading problem.

To make them even more awesome (you can't see this in the picture) there's actually some green on the long-sword from hitting goblins.

These are my weapons that I normaly fight with. I have two swords that need covered and two plain old flails. I did have a nice glaive but it flexed too much....

Rather than crowd this thread with more pics, I'll just direct anyone who wants to see my weapons to the "10ft Red" thread. This Should put you on the page where I posted the finished pic, including my standard 4'2" red. If you want to see my blue, imagine Takeko's red sword (second from the left) without a hand guard and with black cloth.
