blade hand guard?

can u run a striking surface over the grip of your sword and into the pomel? and would it be legal as a striking surface?

I don't think so, because it'd be like a punching weapon.

You can have handguards, which are useful for "punch" blocking, instead of getting straight shots to the knuckle.

1.5.4. Punching Weapons (punching daggers, tonfas).

yea i figured. i could build the blade to pommel and not have strikign tho right?

When building a weapon with a handguard, some people put leather with it, so it makes it more sturdy.

I've yet to build a handguard, because I usually use maces and that'd look awkward.
