While scanning thru BoW I didn't notice any max weight specs on shields or swords. Out of curiosity, are there any?

Good, gooood. I ask cause heavier shields are jarred less by lighter weapons and vice versa.

Not as much as you would think. It is true more of weapons than shields. But still, not as much as you would think. Light and heavy are realative to the application. a 3# shields acts much like a 10# shield when strapped to the arm of a person who know how to use it. Especialy when 90% of the weapons you face weigh 12-16 oz. Look at the weight minimums on the stuff you plan to build. Heavier is better for blocking, but you really don't want to go more than double the min wieght. Once you get over twice the min, you start having performance problems. Everything starts getting slow relative to our field. FB

So a 4 pound 6 ft long class 2/3 weapon is a bad idea? What's the legality as far as pain threshold? I mean a sword could have adequate padding by the BoW, but still hurt when thrust or swung. So what is the standard as far as that goes?

In Malkier, if the weapon stings longer than a 10 count, we fail it for being to dense.

Weight has nothing to do with whether or not to pass a weapon for hit. If it causes legitimate pain, it fails. An unreasonable amount of slap or sting is painful, and would cause it to fail for hit as well, because even if it isn't the same type of pain legit pain means injury is happening, which our weapons should not cause.

I suppose a better word would be rigid or stiff. Light weapons can be very slappy and heavy weapons can hit like pillows.
