Arrows and Boxing Gloves.

So I just recently bought a bow and I'm SO EXCITED. BUT. Bad thing. Arrows.

Arrows have points. For Belegarth, Arrows have to feel -nice.-

SO.

I looked up at how-to-make arrows on the Wiki. Seems fairly simple. Huge layered tube of blue foam, Duct tape and penny. Place block of "Hella dense open-celled foam."

Great. Sounds great. But a problem.

Where do I GET the stuff? And in a cute little cube thats easily able to be taped/pasted on and pass?

I can't spend money on arrow kits. That's -too- expensive. So what, where can I get these cute blocks of hella dense foam?




Also. I'm going to Wedageddon.. or just some slightly-big/small event and I don't actually have gloves. But I have boxing gloves and I'm able to hold a weapon with them. Can I bring those to a fight even if I'm not hitting people?

1. There IS NO CHEAP WAY to make arrows. If you try to save money in their construction, they will fail. If you get the right materials, your first few will fail. Aftr being allowed to use your second batch for about 3 practices, THEY will fail. YOU ARE GOING TO SPEND A BUNCH OF MONEY. Get used to the idea, or give up on being an archer.
2. Sure, you can wear boxing gloves, but you will look like a douche and they will keep you from doing ANY effective sword fighting. You do not need anything more than leather work gloves. Don't punch block like a *(which I'm sure you're being taught by some * like it's big time kung fu.

I agree with everything said on this thread; especially what FB said. Don't punch block, it's stupid for your hands. Arrows are expensive. The arrow kits are just going to save you some money in the long run starting off IMO. Shafts will break and you'll have to scrap the entire arrow.

Stop trying to cheap out on archery. It's going to get someone hurt, or worse, seriously injured...

I don't want to come off as harsh, but archery is one of the most dangerous things we do. If you can't afford to do it right please do not do it all.

Good arrows are going to cost about $10 a pop. Plan on that amount and you can make some nice arrows that will last a while.
