Punchstrapback shield.

Postby Pig » Mon Aug 22, 2011 11:42 pm

Hey there, Pig here again.

After a weekend at Wedageddon I saw the awesome usage of back shields protecting your.... back, strap shields being very strong and more versitile than I thought, and my own strap shield Ms. Gospel deflecting even the most quickest and dangerous of arrows.

Yes. It was a good event.

Aside from that I realized that I really want a back shield, and a strap shield, but I don't want to keep on changing shields.

THE QUESTION.

Can I have a back shield(Punch/Strap)/sword on my back while I do archery, so when I'm suddenly rushed I can jump into my classic sword and board stance..

AND..

..How would I turn Ms. Gospel (The punch shield) into a strap AND a back shield? Anyone have experience doing stuff like that?

I tried to search... but all I got was.. nothing. Okay, thanks!

Totally doable.
My good buddy has a punch/strap shield and turning a strap shield into a back shield ain't no thang.

as for the details, it might be easier to start from scratch than modify your punch shield, but idk.

I suppose the big question to ask is how you have the handle of your punch shield attached.

Give some details like the size of your sheild and if the handel is dead center, or if its higher or lower on the sheild.

And useing a sheild on your back and switching to S&B is a very easy thing to do.

Ms. Gospel is an all foam shield, though so far I don't think I've seen any strap foam shields.. for. err.. obvious reasons I suppose. Maybe I'd be able to use re-donkulous amounts of glue for the straps.

And so while I'm here, it's OKAY to keep a shield/sword on your back while arching.

Go with your gut and what you see on the field. If you don't see coreless backshields, then I wouldn't make an attempt at it. Besides, having a new shield wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.

Add Backstraps to this one, Kael has it done to his. And then make a New strap, Having two sheilds is always a good idea.

I've messed around with the idea of turning my punch into a punch strap. I've figured it'd be better to make a whole new sheild.

Hope you figure it out Legion(Thats the name u gave me at wedageddon)

I don't think it's a great idea to use your old shield; it looks like a classic, maybe your first and deserves to be up on a fall. Instead invest in making a shield like in the link(maybe sans the Plasti-dip work, that's really advanced stuff). Maybe diversify your armory with a different shield; versatility is always good in this game.
