Red sword

Postby Ticonderoga » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:49 pm

Hello guys i just finished a red sword and its signifficantly better than my other one which its actually painful but i used a piece or two of open cell foam and put some duct tape on top not heavily just enough to form it to the shape so one layer. but its really soft and i wanted to use it as my stabbing tip. it feels like getting stab with a kitten lol.

Hmmm... okay.

Please post some pictures. I think it'd be good for everyone to see what you're working with. A lot of poorer quality open cell foams will crumble and break down after a while. Trust me, marine foam is your best freaking friend as far as stabbing is concerned. Like these things:

Tic, the best thing you can do for yourself right now is visit a practice at an established realm and see their weapons/talk to them about how their weapons work and learn why they build them the way they do. That will clear up a lot of these questions you're having and will ensure that you're not using something hilariously dangerous.

You shouldn't have to put tape on the sword to keep it together. If it's built properly, you shouldn't need any tape.

In my exp hand pressure works just fine just use it when u think you needa. If you wait for the DAP to get tacky, you shouldn't need too much pressure.. I COULD see using tape on a LONG * red sword. But then you risk ruining the foam.
