I am writing today to request more information about cores for shields. I have searched around the form and I have not been able to find anyone that talks about shield cores in actual construction industry standards. I bring this up only because I want to maximize the lightness of a shield without spending every dime I have.
In short what exactly is Tech-Ply, it is obviously some sort of brand name and/or manufacturing process that is owned by a specific company. So, do I want;
A. 3/8", 1/2", or 3/4" Plywood for a shield core.
B. I already understand that I need to completely stay away from OSD/OSB and also shun CDX plywood.
C. Should I Be buying a "Sturdy Floor" (heavy duty 1/2" or 3/4") plywood for sub-flooring? Or should I be looking for a single lumber plywood (Oak/Maple) in a grade A/A A/B A/C or B/B B/C?
D. Should I be looking at maybe a water resistant or marine plywood?
I would hope that there is someone out there that can related to what I am saying and also give me some good advice. I appreciate your time and I look forward to your quick response.
