An oblong buckler

Postby Hhate » Sat Sep 17, 2011 10:02 am

I'm looking to make a coreless strap buckler that is oblong, so that can just knock strikes away as I continue my bob, weave, and circle routine.

I'm thinking I'll combine the curved punch shield with one of the many coreless strap shield designs around the site.

Here is sort of what I'm looking at, without the hand poking out the end.

Someone (from Loderia, I think?) made a similar buckler by taking 1ft PVC piping and cutting it in half lengthwise and then padding it for shield use. Not exactly coreless, but that's the only image that really pops into mind looking at your picture.

I currently own that shield. Its modeled after the alien head from the AVP movie. I seriously thought nobody remembered it anymore! Anyway yeah its a a large pvc pipe core cut in half so the inner arm is open to air.. There is a lot of open cell on the end of it so you can punch easier with the shield. But since the arm is exposed it doesnt count as invincible armor or anything. Honestly its a odd shield to use but fun as hell to punch with!
