Actually, not so much. You can pretty clearly tell in that first picture that the shield is strapped to the person's arm. The image below is what historical punch shields were like. Center grip with a boss to protect the hand.

The second design means nothing if you don't say anything more. As a strap? You'd have protection over your arm and not much else. As a punch? You'd have to be very active in your blocking to make it worthwhile.

Cale, when he says "punch shield" he means "shield for punching someone and **** their world up."

I don't think anyone was wondering what a real punch shield would look like.

What we call punch shields are basically shields that don't strap to the arm but are instead held with a handle and nothing else.

What you have in that picture is not a punch shield, but a shield that would be used for stabbing someone with a punching motion.

No,kid, you were trying to tell us we are wrong about punch sheilds.
You said this image was to show us
This is just to show all those who wondered what a real punch shield would look like.

And you are absolutely wrong. You are trying to attempt to make us accept the existence of the stupid, half asses invention posted in this forum lately, a weapon/shield exaclty like this.
That kind of **** does not work on us. Do you think that somehow this design is NEW to us?
That we somehow do not know about ARMA or their site and it's resources. I mean, Good on ya for doing research. Everyone should. But you seem to think you are discovering new things. You are not. They may be new to you, but we all checked that **** out years ago.

That image is of a judicial dueling shield, a specific and mildly moronic design intended to be less than immediately lethal for the purpose of fighting official duels in the settlement of disputes.

There were a LOT of retarded dueling shields and weapons invented specifically for the spectacle of the judicial duel.

It's not my fault you come off like a kid.
I don't think you've been involved with combat sports on this level for very long, either.
If you had, you would give the people here more credit in their interest in medieval combat practices.
I'm sorry if I was mistaken in think you were trying to talk about this as a weapon you want to build, or talk about building. This being a forum for the building and discusion of building foam weapon and all, I tend to take it for granted.
Since your just showing dumb pictures of **** we don't use and you don't want to use:

This. Please run every post you're going to post though MS Word. It will automatically fix half of your issues (it's made for stupid people). That or get Firefox...it will at least help with your spelling.

Our punch shields having nothing to do with the hisotric counterpart. You're saying "hey look, a punch." Well, no, no it's not. Not to a belegarth fighter, that's a strap shield. That's the disconnect.

Get bent? You mean this bent? Bent is a 1979 play by Martin Sherman. It revolves around the persecution of gays in Nazi Germany, and takes place during and after the Night of the Long Knives. If so, no thanks, doesn't sound interesting.

If that's slang for something, I must be a few years off from what it means. Must be one of those 80s slang terms that I was just barely too young for...

And Fork does have a life, it consists of creating **** storms with stupid people on these forums

Hey, mo? Develop some slightly thicker skin, if you will. It'll be good for everyone.

Everyone else? Don't instigate. Leave that for General Mayhem.

Mo, what you posted is not a historical punch shield. It is a strap shield, that can be used to make a punching attack. You posted your thoughts like it was some matter of fact, you are wrong and i am right type of thing. That is not a "punch shield." Thusly you were told. If that's too much for you, sorry.
