Most Current tech for Omni Glaives?

Postby Triton » Sun Jun 03, 2012 9:29 pm

I have searched every key word I can think of and looked through a bunch of pages of bo1's posts, but have been unable to come up with what the most current tech is for a stabby omni-glaive. Seeing as I would like to attempt to build one(my 8ft bandshoppe pole is just sitting in the garage waiting...), any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Pm bo1, maybe if you're lucky he'll share some of his secrets.

4lb MC sheet around 1/4 inch thick. Cut to the length of the striking edge and about a foot wide. DAP the inside. Tape the length to the core, tightly roll the foam around the core. LET dry. 2lb MC around 1/4 inch thick. Same basic process except stop once you get to a 3inch wide blade. That give you a total of 1" of padding all around with dense padding on the inside to keep it from tippiing out, and nicer padding on the outside to make it legal.

I use 3/8" yoga mat for the stab tip, but a nerf soccer ball cut to size is pretty good too.

randy that has to be one of the least detailed posts for one of the most complicated builds on a very dangerous weapon.

Honestly you have just set someone up for failure by giving them about half the information.

Flats are 100x more complicated. If your not able to follow those simple instructions, you should be paying or learning from someone else.

I have heard of a method, never tried it myself. Standard box build, with progressive foams, 4#, Microcell, etc. But after you make each box, cut the corners and then after you have like 3 or 4 boxes like that, wrap the outer layer. I don't think it'll come out 100% round though. This might be a terrible idea btw, just something I've heard of.

I've done the above, worked really well. Pain in the *, but if you have access to a table saw or a jig saw, you should be set.
