Longest Jav with new weight limit?

About how long can jav's be now, with the new weight limit? What core would be best for an attempt at the longest possible legal jav? What foam would be the lightest wile still being effective for the courtesy padding down the haft? Finally, with the pommel, can it be hallow? I know that's like only a quarter ounce, but, every bit is going to count.

I have personally seen, checked and passed a 7' jav. It weighed in at 15.95 ounces.

It is totally possible to make a max length jav with the new weight rule.

You wouldn't happen to know what kind of foam and core were used? Or did it belong to someone you didn't know very well?

It was a Carbon Fiber or whatever core.. the super light stuff. And they made it legal for Dag also i believe. Not too sure.

dag gives more weight than bele, so, just about any jav that is bele legal's gonna be dag legal. Dag's a pound and half, unless that has changed very recently. Know some new rules are coming into effect. Trying to keep up on dag, play both the games.

Head size is the issue. Dag requires a (3?)" head, whereas the Bel requirement is 2.5"

625 kitespar. with it a 7'jav can be made. i have made 10 javies with with 625. a 7' is a bit long tho. 5-6' is a good length

So I'm not hip to all the kitespar lingo. Looking at Goodwinds, I see:

Fiberglass - Filament Wound Epoxy Tubing, and Pultruded Fiberglass Tubing.
Carbon - Pultruded Carbon Tubes

Which is the "kitespar" that we want to use?


Locally, there is a business called TAP Plastics. They have the "Filament Wound Epoxy Tubing"

I asked around locally (mostly Amtgard) if this was weapon grade kitespar, and I got near 50/50 yes/no responces. Any idea from the item description if it's appropriate?

Filament wound epoxy is the correct stuff. 0.625 diameter is what is used for javelins. i do not make 7' because kitespar is pricey. when it is long i fear that it will be broken by a red when it is beingused as like a spear and not thrown. longer javs are used as spears more often than short ones.
