What is the best overall length for greatswords?

Postby Airenze » Sun Jan 25, 2004 4:46 pm

See above. This summer I think I'll make myself some new ones, since my 2 greatswords are 4 ft and 6 ft, neither of which is practical.
Next time, type faster or use shorter taunts.

anything more then 3 feet it gets hard ot stableize the weapon, so i suggest not going over 4 if you can help it.

I just made a red using one 4ft thicker gauge kitespar from edhellen. One foot handle with 3ft blade. It is very strong and light. I mainly made it to make a long one handed weapon, which it does very well, but I believe it would be hard to break a shield with it. Personally, I don't care much for breakinig shields.

Personally i had a 6 foot sword, it was really nice, made it out of dual kites bar. I would say 6 feet. It did not break sheilds but it could move really fast

5 ft total: 2 ft handle, 3 ft blade. Mine's made with 1 inch pvc and i think 5 layers of blue foam, plus stabby. I love it, breaks shields, long handle lets me solidly punch-block other reds, stabby works well against flouritiners.

You know, that's not a legal weapon. 1/3 handle max.

Ok, well I guessed on the handle length. As well as the blade length.
*Gets ruler*
Nevermind, handle is like a foot and four inches. Blade a little over 3 feet.

I like the ones edhellen makes. 3 ft blade, 18 inch handle.
