Felt Cover

Has anyone ever tried glueing felt directly to the foam surface. I think it would add a bit of padding and strength. Though it may complicate any repairs. I would also think one may still want to use a cover, something that could be removed and washed.

Are you thinking the synthetic felt that roofers use, or felt cloth? I'm not too familiar with either. What kind of structural integrity are you thinking that it would add?

Felt cloth; I was thinking that it would help keep the foam from spliting.

If you glue it properly, there won't be a concern of it splitting.

Or cover it in cloth tape.

If you concern is the face foam splitting, then I would say that it would be an unnecessary step. I have a shield that is going on 7 years old, and the foam on the face is still original; no tears.
