Carpet Paddding (Foam)

Postby Gronox » Thu Apr 11, 2013 10:27 pm

I work at menards and was looking at the 3/8th inch or 7/16ths foam we have that seems really nice, but i wasn't sure if it'd work too well or not. It's kind of dense but not bad enough to hit with and wasn't sure what to think about it, especially since i can get it at a pretty decent price.

Link for the foam.

According to the manufacturer specs, that is an 8# foam. The foam we typically use for hard boxes is 4#, and blade foam (such as blue foam) is typically 2#, so that would be significantly harder when layered. I'm not certain either of the construction of bonded urethane, which is what it is made of.

Woohhh there, calm down buddy.

8# closed cell, no beuno, 8# open cell.. is a totally different beast.

Luckily you are right, this is ****. But heres why

"Made with "memory foam" for added comfort & durability"

Memory foam has the fun time of it squeeze nicely, but on impact it restricts... very similar to Corn starch if you are familiar with that. Stay away, go down to WalMart and buy some blue foam. If you are looking for better foam you need to order online generally

Yeah picked up blue already was just curious of using it for the first layer then using blue and maybe a box haft padding. Any good place to order a squared .50 fiberglass rod or rods from or kite spar?

Missed the part where it stated it was open cell. Thanks for the save, Varadin.
