heater/kite shield

Postby Gabekillsyou » Sat Jun 15, 2013 2:42 am

I have some heater/kite shields that i used in amt. I have heard that in some societies it is frowned upon for non-knighted fighters to use these shields. Is this true for bel?

If so, thats ok with me. Would just like to know before bringing one on the field during equinox.

This is really more of a question for your local group, as they might have traditions (or in rare instances, even rules) that stipulate who should use shields of that shape. Nationally, you can use whatever you want and no one will be too offended.

Now, some groups might say "oh, he's using a heater shield, well, we don't like people who aren't knights to do that, so we would take that into account if he ever wanted to become a knight in our group." But no one is going to give you too hard a time, or even notice, probably.

It really isn't a rule, but the most notable knightly orders in the game all the the heater custom.

I have had people notice and give me crap for it, even though I have had the board for 12 years. I feel it is petty to point it out, but it would never keep me from using my shield. It does keep me from respecting people who act like jerks toward others. Also, the heater is hands down one of the most awesome designs for a shield. Whatever you go with, don't belittle people for petty and superficial reasons...unless they use flails - those are for little girls. :P

Yeah, just use what you want. Anybody who gets upset about it probably takes themselves way too seriously.
