Squeegee Handle as Core

Postby Nelon » Sun Dec 01, 2013 10:55 am

Does anyone have experience with using a squeegee handle as core? Specifically anything close to a 1" x 4-5'.

It really depends on what material the core is made of, and in what manner it is constructed. Just judging by the specs you provided, I would say that regardless of what the core is made of, it probably won't be especially useful for a weapon. Cores with that thickness at that length tend not to flex, so they generally cause weapons built of them to hit very hard, and thus require excessive amounts of padding, and be very bulky. The only exception to that is if it's SCH80 PVC, in which case that is the appropriate diameter, but it would still be very bulky and unwieldy.

Without more information on the material, that's the best I can give you. If you can post a picture of the core, that would help tremendously. If you have a more specific question, please be sure to post it.

Cheers,

If that kind of core is what I think it is, you are best off not using it.

I have seen several different tool handles before that fit your description, and I would recommend using none of them.

Though like Thurat said, it depends on the material and manner of construction of your specific handle.

Edit: I must add to watch out for metal. Metal core = big no no. Also, if the core is telescopic, forget about using it.
