certain foam specifically for bel?

Postby NinjaFace » Wed May 14, 2014 9:31 pm

Me and some friends went to WalMart and the original blue foam pads weren't there so we got some kind of yoga mat thing. We made weapons just to see how it will turn out, we tested them out and they hit the same as the other kind, how would I go about finding out if they're bel legal?

There isn't really a specific type of foam you have to use for Bel weapons. It all comes down to how they hit and how they hold up in determining whether or not a type of foam is suitable. Your typical camp pad is a blue Ozark Trail pad, without the large bubbles. They make a version with rather large bubble shapes on it, which make it difficult to glue, so it's not really suitable. The typical blue camp pad is being pulled from my local stores and going to online only, so that may be the same in your area.

Otherwise, the most common foams used are 2# polyethylene, polyurethane, EVA, and MC (mini-cell/micro-cell). Blue camp pad is a ~2.4# polyethylene.

It feels the same as a bel wrap when getting hit with it. We've fought a few times with them and they've held up. =P

If they hit fine and are holding up well, then I'd say go for it. See how well it works. Out of curiosity, could you post a link to or a picture of the foam you used?
