Making a rope grip

Postby Temujin » Sat Aug 16, 2014 8:44 pm

How does one make a rope grip?
In what situations and types of weapons is it most useful?
What are the advantages and disadvantages over a normal cloth tape grip?

Thank you

Making a rope grip is as simple as wrapping your handle in the rope of your choice, with some double sided tape underneath to hold it to the core without any slippage. What size and type you use is completely up to you, and some people also wrap theirs in cloth tape for a better grip.

Compared to a simple grip of cloth tape on the core, a rope handle is softer, and has a greater diameter. If you have small hands, this is fine, but with larger hands gripping such a small diameter object for an extended period of time is tiring, and can strain your hand; it's just bad for your hand health, in general. That of course depends on the size of the core as well. There really isn't any black and white answer for this one. It's a matter of what feels natural and comfortable in your hand.
