Dippers Pool Noodle

Postby Landon » Mon May 18, 2015 6:26 pm

Does anyone have any experience with Dippers Pool noodle? It's fairly cheap and looks great for things like stabbing tips and arrows but I've never heard of anyone using it. Surely if it was as good as I think it is than everybody would be using it, but I don't think anybody does.

Pretty much, my question is, what's wrong with it?

Pool noodle is only used for two things in Belegarth: flail head cores and for really, really cheap swords.

I don't know brands, as I don't use it at all anymore. It just doesn't hold up to our type of fighting.

This isn't your average pool noodle, and it's a little hard to explain without a physical representation. Here is a cheesy little picture that might give you a better idea:

I've started seeing it at Wal-Mart recently what with the weather warming up again. It has a consistency more like a light rubber foam, and it seems pretty durable. Has anyone else seen it before? Surely I'm not the first?

Looks like a thick coating on the outside of marine foam.

...Could maybe use it for spear and glaive heads. Thats about it.

If I had to guess, that's just a recreational version of those flotation devices used by lifeguards. Obviously I can't see or touch it in real life, but if I had to guess, I'd say that stuff is made from ensolite. I personally wouldn't ever use that stuff for striking foam as it is, in my experience too heavy and expensive to be worth it. That said, if it is ensolite, I can't think of any reason it would be expressly illegal.

Ensolite is used in stabbing tips, and some use it for spear heads.
