Do you think that 48 inch solid.500 fiberglass will fail flex once fully padded and covered? Probably omniblade to prevent flat flex as well.

It's the same core type that forged foam uses to make red weapons. I can only get 3/8" fiberglass cores locally, so I double up for reds and it has been working for me.

I doubt it at 48". I have a 44" blue and it is fine.

It does depend somewhat on the brand (Sunguard II is reliable and consistent, and can be purchased from Kencove online), but a 1/2" round fiberglass core (solid) is good for up to a min-red. After about 6mo-1yr of heavy use you will likely flex out at max length, but then you just cut off some handle and you have a blue sword, so it's not a bad investment.

When I build min-reds on them, I cut the core at 45-46" and give it a max length handle. That should get you to just about exactly 48" and the longer handle means it will be tested for flex further up, which should make it last much longer.

It's also great for blue swords.

Thank you guys. I was thinking about cutting it at 45 so with stabbing tip and pummel with an inch and a half of padding I should be good and I believe 18 inches would be max handle on a 48 inch sword correct? And I found a website called Warlord Sports. Com and I have ordered an 8 foot a a five foot and a four foot core the five foot and eight foot are bigger in diameter and should pass fine it's just four that I was worried about

Also be careful with this just because in the past when I did this mine failed flex on flat which also caused my sword to break just for the heads up

Thanks for the heads up. I've hard of the down side to dual core, and I don't expect a life much more than a year, if that. Currently, my red is at the half year point of moderate use. Some whip, but still passes for now.

The warlord sports solid core should do well for you. My buddy got one and it was pretty solid. He ended up cutting it down for a blue, though. :(
