Current Punch Shield Tech?

Postby Oisin » Mon Aug 17, 2015 5:53 pm

So I've been out of the game for about 4-5 years. What's the current state of tech for building punch shields? Still 3.something" foam board plank like Edhellen punch shields used to use and apparently still do? And if so, where's the best place to get it these days?

You can use that (though I'd be at a blank for sources) or you can layer 4# foam anti-fatigue mat from Harbor Freight or Walmart as your base and then add a single layer skin of blue on the outside to make it more friendly.

Ok cool so not much different from four or five years ago. Ethafoam 180 to 220 still what (apparently they're now called) Forged Foam uses?

Also, what's the state of the rules for plasti-dip? Can shields be plastidipped, or still have to have a cloth cover? That was still contentious when last I was about.

Yes, Plasti-Dipped shields are legal. In fact, there's been quite the Renaissance in Plasti-Dip shield artistry as shown here from Plithacorn Productions:
