Putting Emblems/Coat of Arms on shields

Postby MelonDerg » Thu Sep 20, 2018 1:24 pm

Just a quick question about getting images on shields.
What is the best way to do this? What lasts the longest?

I've used acrylic paints to good affect. Thinning them and applying lots of thin layers over thicker layers will help a lot with longevity. Thick coats tend to get brittle and crack. You can also add textile medium to acrylics to make them flexible (that's all fabric paint is), but I haven't really found that super necessary. Spray paint works, but it can be very stiff/scratchy.
