I am going to help the local faomsmith master(He can build awesome light swords that compare with edhellen in weight, and durability and uses a mere two layers of faom on the striking-----and they pass very well!) build a sword from Halo 2, whaddya think?

If memory serves me correct, the Halo 2 energy swoard is a punch stabbing weapon, which is not Belegarth legal.

Yeah, I think you'd just wind up with a big triangular sword. Between needing a handle, not having a true point, and not having a particularly flat or diamond-shaped blade, I don't think you could get all that close.

I think that's really the sort of thing to do in latex. And never, ever, try to use for fighting.

Actually, with the size, it would be hard to use to punch, and as fo rthe forming, I just saw the local foamsmith's latest creation, and he made a legal ring, and padded it. You can't legally punch, but it has the balance to slash and block.

Your welcome to attempt to build that sort of weapon, but I wouldn't put any money on it passing.

The design that you are trying is not going to translate into foam and glue form well. It would be hard to make the ends pointy like that and have it pass the 2 1/2" rule. Besides the fact that it would be a puch style of weapon which is NEVER legal on a Belegarth battlefield.

But do what you like and bring it to the next event and see if it is useable...

It really would be too awkward to be effective. The H2 plasma sword is a stabby-primary weapon, and that's clearly against the rules in the BoW (it's basically a glorified double-katar design). Also, it would utterly lack any kind of pommel, and would thus have to qualify as a quarterstaff, which is a design that's notorious in Belegarth for being a pain in the *.

Just use a red, blue/board, dual-blue, or some other useful design. The Halo 2 sword just won't work.

We'll see. You know, peole said the Loderian Hammer would not work, look at it now.......and the same guy built it.

I think it would be cool to see it, even if checkers won't pass it...good luck. Post pictures when you're done. I want to see.

As a side note, how do you plan on doing the core for it? Isn't a continuous, fused-piece (or stable-connection, i.e. double-core designs held together with tape/adhesive) core needed for weapons?

don't ask me, the weapon guy is doing it, I am just gonna dap it, and cut the foam. (he's allergic!) but picks will be posted.

The halo sword would be built around a pvc curved base and would basically be a giant U that your arm would fit into. To avoid breaking the no punch weapon rule a handle fused in from the lower half would basically make the sword into a very bulky red (hopefully.) The real problem however, would be the sides that would rest on your arm? Which would make the weapon anvil into the fighters arms? (also is illegal.) It would be a hard weapon to make, but hopefully with time and carefulness it would pass and break no rules. (I hope)

Also yes Toki, and I built the giant hammer, as some of you know that was at Oktoberfest. Also at Summerwar which it took three people to fail it for "flex," we cut the core down and bye bye flex... :P

Yeah, that's all well and good, but the question still remains: what kind of weapon would this qualify as? Some kind of new double-ended sword/quarterstaff?

Thanks cyrus, anyway, it would be a regular sword, IF we used it.
