Those two are actually cosplay. Characters from Bleach, unless I've gone completely round the bend. Good cosplay, though, tends to stand out in the sea of crap that you usually get.

Not sure what you're trying to say there. Are you insinuating something? If so, I'm gonna pull a Krieger, and make too big a deal out of it on too many levels.

This is the kind of gear you make and wear if you serious about this sport.
If you care about our organisation and want it to grow, or if you just want to look cool as **** instead of like a reject from a dork convention, you'll dress appropriately.

This sums up exactly why I am so * off when I go to events and see people -- especially veterans and people of means -- running around in sports bras and bare-minimum garb. You have to understand that I'm-wearing-a-skirt-and-that-is-enough-to-mean-I'm-supposed-to-be-a-monster is only "cool" to you and your friends inside the sport that feel the same way. To anyone considering making this a hobby, you're a total turn off. Your laziness keeps quality people from taking us seriously.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHgr5kTk ... re=relatedhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opvnq7OTfSMThe guy in the first video has a series of pictures on Facebook that are incredibly impressive. I came across these doing research for my own Teutonic Knight's persona for the SCA.
So far as I can tell, he's mostly accurate. The finger gauntlets are apparently off, because the Teutonic Order didn't use that style, but really, who the hell cares, and it looks * good.

The girl in this picture is actually a GMX Girl (mascot kind of person) for a con here in TN. She's a pretty cool girl. If I remember correctly, she recently started making armor.

Heres a person who does some amazing work with animal pelts where she makes various things, especially headdresses out of them.
She also sells her headdresses, here is her etsy site:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/NaturePunk?ref=seller_infoI think her work is amazing and she does other stuff as well that is really awesome. I think some people might like her work, since it can be some awesome garb. I have gotten a lot of inspiration from her work.

My Little Pony costume ideas. Because some folks have discussed MLP garb for the side of good in Monsterpocalypse vs. Crusadergeddon this summer.
Btw, this is supposed to be a constructive thread. So my question to you is this: what was the positive contribution of posting, "I'm not inspired by that picture."

I know rite? Do you know of the Varangian Guard? IE Norse who traveled thru Rus down into the Byzantium Empire and were hired to be the Emperor's bodyguards. I'm working on a Varangian Guard kit for SCA. Cedric, Kaegan and Aleksii all have or are working on the same. I think the scale lamellar coupled with the Norse style conical helm is dope.
I'm going to go for a 1200-1400 era Varangian, so I'll incorporate a medley of styles. I'm thinking splint-mail vambraces and greaves, leather lamellar and a hybrid conical norse style helm with oculars with a psuedo eastern feel.

I need to get more into my kit so i can be a proper Varangian. got the armor just need to get more period fabrics involved, and more varied garb.

Aleksii just got an Osprey book on the Varangians, I'm pretty stoked to get a change to browse thru it; I guess it's got some pretty legit ideas for garb. I think a lot of color might be a good start to varying your kit; Vikings loved bright colors.
