It is used in quite a few of the recreations I found on Google.

The kislev winged lancers are based off of the hussars.
I like the armour and the wings are cool looking but look to flashy for my tastes. I love the brass work though.

And everyone knows that Leopards are naturally from Poland. They got scared away by the Germans and now reside elsewhere.

There are very large leopards in the Russian forests. I'd imagine they used to range all over eastern Europe.

I bet for every one of those nice suits, there is a hundred noobs with cardboard boxes and nerf guns.

I bet that crap would kill someone in FL; though by the looks of the terrain he probably does not have it much better heat-wise.

Actually, Aslaug's right about the Hussars . . . the first unit of them was formed in Hungary as a response to the Ottoman invasion of the southern half of that country.

The winged Hussars that y'all have posted pictures of are Polish/Lithuanian, though.

Enh . . . he's not bad, quite good by Bel standards I suppose, but even from a low-res pic, I've seen much better. Boots, maille, weapons, belt and gloves all look wrong, and for no apparent reason (such as, for example, concessions necessary to make the kit SCA legal, which it clearly isn't intended to be).

I hope that's a Bel kit and not a reenactment/LH kit?

There does seem to be something off about it, through I do like the getup. (Need more crusaders. Though trying to get the outfit back to white after a week long event would be exciting.)

I think the problem is all the different colors. The maile is a silver white (galvanized?), the helmet and spear head are bronze, the boots look like pirate boots (and the gloves match, though I'm not sure if that's intentional), and the belt doesn't match the boots/gloves. I think that might be what is making the picture "seem off."

To mention again though, I do like the outfit. That kind of getup can be involved to do, so pulling together stuff for the outfit from different sources is legit to me.

It's not that it looks "off" in the modern sense, although it does do that, but it's rather historically incorrect. The maille is galvy, although I'm going to have to say you don't know what bronze looks like as the spearhead at least is stainless steel, can't tell about the helmet, and the boots are a completely modern style with readily visible rubber elements, same goes for gloves minus the rubber bits. As far as the belt and sword go, I can't really see what's going on with them, but they just don't look right in this picture.

maybe it's the brick fireplace and the sliding doors?

Put that guy on a horse in the woods, and he'd look 10x better.

I'd say the most obvious problem is the silhouette...its all wrong. Secondly, there is no padding under that mail...which especially around the helm and neck would help the silhouette. Oh, yeah those boots have to go as well. The tunic and cloak seem off as well...I wonder what they're made of?

This is my friend at his house, and the picture was from a cell phone, so not a very good, you know, definition...

...anyway, the stuff he's wearing is a bunch of different things, like he normally wears gauntlets and better boots. The gloves he's wearing are actually Bergils I believe, and the boots are a bit taller now.

BTW:: the picture was taken quite a while ago, and so a lot has changed garbwise since then.

how'd you get that picture anyhow?

BTWW:: im his sqire, so formally my name is: Tac the Fierce, Squire to Tancred, Holy General in Bergil, Dark Lord of Norcal's mighty army of Holy Crusaders, ordered by Pope Urban the II...

The reason he's dressed like that is because he's about to go to a ren faire, because other than Bel, we do Amtgard Stuff, Dagorhir stuff, and also Ren faires.

But of course, mostly Belegarth rules are what we apply to our practices, when were not using shinai or wasters.

I think you linked the website address to the img tag instead of the Image address.

Anyhow, the outfit in the picture was preety good. I for one would like to see more historical persona's. The biggest thing that looks off to me is the color of the chain mail. It's much brighter than the helm or blade. Other than that, it looks great.

The main reason about that was the lighting, he has a light hanging up in the one corner of his room, and so anyone taking pictures is thrown off horribly.

No, the main reason for that is that it's clearly galvanized steel.

That happened regularly to real shields. Bel, Dag, SCA, etc (not to mention Hollywood) give us incredibly unrealistic expectations about shield durability. Most shields were wasters.
