Garb Shoes

Postby Relg » Thu Feb 19, 2009 2:23 pm

Would these be acceptable shoes for fighting garb? I'm sure they would pass by BoW standards. I just want to make sure that they don't seem too modern. My first event is coming up (Dag's Olympics, hosted by Mittlemarch in Indianapolis, IN) and I'm trying to get some decent garb together for it.

I can't say for Dagorhir, but I know pretty much all heralds in Belegarth ignore footwear.

They're probably alright as long as your pants cover part of them.

Period shoes can be hard to get, people realize this, and so garb rules in relation to shoes are not as strict. Many people simply play in black sneakers.

Those look great to me. I think I saw a reenactor where a pare of those last summer. They looked good, I wanted a pair.

Dag is a bit stricter than Bel is in terms of shoes. HOwever those look pretty good, and definitely fine for Bel stuff. As long as there are no logos showing and no bright white, you should be ok.

I would cross post to the Dag board & ask just to be sure for their events.

The hero Belegarth deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A Viking *.

I would, but I'm already excommunicated from the Catholic church. Why push my luck and extend it to the Dag boards? The consensus gathered here is good enough for me. Thanks!

Quickie, a question: how do you guys do it? Aren't you worried about someone curb stomping your foot, and breaking a bone/ripping something (either from the fall, or twisting)? (Obviously not, since you do it, but that's my major fear.) And what do you do about shield kicking?

There are no staffs in Belegarth. Because of how they are constructed, they are really Pugil Sticks.

i've been stepped on and have screwed up my ankle multiple times. but honestly the only time this is a problem is front line battles with more than 40 or so people each. but i'm pretty concious of footwork, so unless the field is really **** (octfest) this isn't a problem for me....
and as far as sheild kicking go's i'm all for it, it really doesnt change anything.

This is why I participate in Belegarth. Large battles are where it's at. If you wantto perform well in large battles, you need boots.
Wear modern, police style combat boots. Hi-Tech make a series called Magnums. They are the lightest Tactical boot made. Converse also make a tactical boot now. Magnus has some. They are PIMP.

Those look pretty pimp Forkbeard. Do you know if they sell those at military surplus stores, or do you pretty much have to buy them online?

Magnus and I both bought ours at a local harware/outdoors/surplus superstore called Smith&Edwards.
You can probly find them at the places that supply your local cops.
