Garb Patterns

Postby Gawspel » Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:12 pm

Hello all.
I am pretty new to the game and I would like to create some garb that doesn't get me laughed off the field. I was wondering if anyone knew any good, yet simple, garb patterns. I am interested in making my own, not purchasing it.
Thank you for your time.

Have you checked the wiki at http://www.geddon.org/index.php/Tunic

geddon.org has info for just about everything we do from garb to armor to weapons construction. Research before you ask, or you'll likely be flamed.

Actually, the garb tuts on the wiki kind of suck.

What are you interested in making? Have you seen any pictures of fighters whose style you really dig?

All I want is to have some options beyond the basic tunic and tabard.

Uh.

Uh.

I don't know what you're talking about. A tunic is a thing that covers your upper body and your thighs. A tabard is useful if you like showing your heraldry or unit symbol and like flowy things. Pants are for your legs.

What else are you looking for?? Like, a hat? Hats are pretty awesome...

Wait, do you mean "I'd like a better tunic than a super-basic straight-side T-tunic"? Cause I can help you, there.

Yes, something more fancy than the basics would be helpful. And a hat would be quite awesome.

I like this pattern for my tunics: http://www.dagorhir.com/gear/content/ga ... _tunic.php

This pattern: http://fibers.destinyslobster.com/Japan ... hakama.htm
(modified for tall people here: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d124/ ... of60-1.png )

yields nice hakama/faux hakama/sport hakama, if you're into that.

Otherwise, try out drawstring pant or hosen patterns from wherever you can scrounge 'em up. Leaving the arms off of a tunic like in the first link I posted yields a surcoat. You can split the skirts of tunics (horseman- or footman-style), do different sleeve lengths and types, different necklines (I like faced keyholes, myself), etc.

There's a collection of a bunch of patterns I have found and like on our webpage (scroll down). I am currently favoring wrap pants and salwar for myself.

Second this. Great pattern. A bit complicated, but yields a great result, and the tutorial is by a really great guy.
