Garb for Players Age 11-16

Postby DragoonAntoinette » Wed Dec 30, 2009 1:42 am

Alright so my realm has a division for children age 8 to 16 and a lot of their parents are asking where they can get garb patterns and some of the parents who are not so involved as asking where they can just buy garb and I have offered to make them for the kids, however I am having trouble finding patterns aside from then halloween costume patters that cannot really grow with kids. I am looking for something that will grow with these kids, so they can use them for a while. If anyone has any ideas on garb please leave them here.

Try something like this:

http://thescholarsgarret.com/northernshores/tunic1.html

It uses a t-shirt as the pattern for a t-tunic. Since they tend to look better with a bit of looseness and draping, you can make them oversized and the children can grow into them. One of the negatives, though, is that this technique doesn't use the fabric efficiently.

Thank you both. I have to say the second link provides much better instruction on how to make the tunic. I have to talk it over with the kids and see what they like and what their parents are willing to pay for fabric.

Any pants ideas?

Once again thank you!

http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-ca ... khome.html

This is the page I use to make most of my garb off of. As a warning, I am pretty decent at turning 2D images into 3D objects, so your mileage may vary. Also, please be aware that I am a renegade SCAdian, and as such am completely useless for most fantasy garb :)

For pants try http://www.personal.utulsa.edu/~marc-ca ... khome.html as they seem to cleave more toward Saxon personas.
