t-shirts, torn up garb?

Postby Vadallat » Mon Feb 08, 2010 3:13 am

Now hear me out before every one jumps on me like I'm a disease. Last i knew i was still able to cut up old t- shirts and turn them into garb, is this still possible?
Check it I'm a beast.

If you do it right, I could see it working as decent beginner garb.

Find a solid color shirt, as long as possible (t-shirt, polo, the kind with three buttons at the neck, possibly long-sleeve). Cut a new neck into it (lace it closed, perhaps), and cut off the edges of the sleeves and the edge around the waist. Put a tabard over it if you can. Then put a belt over it.

= my beginner garb.

A lot of the stuff you guys used to do for things like garb worked because you were a small group in the middle of nowhere he wasn't getting any visitors from other realms or going to events. When you're younger, people don't really expect much effort.

T-shirt != garb.

Polo tunic + sweats = will get you on the field at like your first event evar, but don't expect people to like it.

Underarmor, hakama, and tabard. All you'll ever need.

(Tabard optional)

Kilt, Belt, and short sword

At an event, you just need to sleep by the fire

"Boot still with foot."
"That is disgusting!"

No, you can not do this. Sure it's legal, but you can't do it. Unless your a **** turd.
If you show up in that kind of garb at your first practice, maybe even event, yeah, fine.
But you're already here, asking about it before the season even begins. You are preparing in advance to look like ****.
So I say, no, you can't wear garb made of torn up t-shirts. Not when you could easily and more cheaply go to **** walmart and go to the **** fabric section. Go to the $1 a Yard bin. Buy some material and go home and MAKE **** GARB.
You have also obviously played this game before as you began this little adventure with, "I remeber when".
Don't be that **** turd in ccrappy garb when you can clearly do better.
Thank you,

Oh yeah, Todo, we're watching you. When the Tabbard comes off, you're shirtless or off the field, sucka.

the only good use of tee shirts i have ever seen is having them torn into strips, braided up, and made into monster garb.

Yea, they are no substitute for a proper tunic or surcoat. Both of which are made easily and cheaply.

I sew my own garb. One of my buddies decided to try t-shirt garb. I wouldn't let him and presented to him a tabard scraped from a failed tunic attempt. Later, I gave him a purple and navy tunic. He loves it. If you don't wish to make your own garb, find someone who can sew and will gladly help you get garb.

Polo Tunic + SUPER oversized drawstring pants that Nilu made me out of dollar-bin fabric in exchange for a microphone-type dagger I made.

Fast Forward ~two years ->

Hand-made garb, mostly of linen and wool. (The bright pink-covered shield I'm using in the second pic is not mine.)

I knew a guy that had been around for a really long time when I started, and all he ever wore was a tshirt that he wrapped duct tape around the sleeves and collar for trim, and some pants.

That is one resilient tshirt.
