First Full Mask

Postby Tobia Blackthorn » Sun Oct 24, 2010 5:49 pm

Since leatherwork is such a major component of this sport, I thought I'd share my most recent mask. Its the very first full mask I've made. While I like the tooling, I'm not too happy with the way the shaping is done below the nose. Enjoy!

looks good. I like it.

The only concern I would have is how well you can breath in it. Looks like you'd die from lack of oxygen.

That, plus lack of padding, is why this is really just a garb/costume mask. The area in the nose lets in enough air as long as you're not doing anything rigorous.

You could perhaps punch a few holes in the area under the nose, something that goes with the design approach of the rest of the mask. Another suggestion might be to cut some slits in that area that are like the red lines you have on the rest of the mask.

I just realized how I could have done the holes to match them up, namesly make holes as Kyrian suggested, then link them with gold lines like the nodes on the cheeks. Thanks for the ideas!
