Yes, but I've been told fighting in a corset is not as comfortable as one first thinks it might be.

I can vouch for that; but dahlin' does it look good on me.

Does anyone have more pictures of cold weather fighting garb? Most of my garb is for warmer weather, but if I want to go to other states for events I would like to bring more cold weather gear. I'm looking for ideas for colder weather garb, but so far most of it has been warmer weather stuff.

The classic look is layering tunics.

In winter he protected himself with four tunics and a heavy toga, besides an undershirt, a woollen chest-protector and wraps for his thighs and shins,...

However, if you don't have lots of garb to do this with, just have one (or two if you want to change on a multiple day event) item that's big enough to pile on your under armor, long johns, and sweats. I do this with my Viking garb.

Hats and scarves can also be period, but may interfere with fighting depending on how functional they are. They and a cloak can be worn on the sidelines when you're taking a break to maintain body temp just like baseball pitchers wear jackets when their team is batting.

Just so you know that is leather armor... looks like a corset but indeed I can get stabbed in the boob at full force and it does NOT hurt and is functional. Corsets by themselves... not functional and constrictive... probably shouldn't fight in them.

Woman body armor made by Forkbeard for anyone out there looking to protect there tatas.

Okay so here is my current garb that I designed/made. It is more for feast, however, and I have yet to design myself something that I would prefer fighting in. I've been looking through this thread but nothing really sparks my interest too terribly, or perhaps I just don't know how to put it together.

I am technically more monster (my own kind of werewolf) so I want my fighting garb to have a more feral, torn up look, but still look well made and like it was once intricate. Professionally distressed, so to speak.

Basically, I would appreciate any and all advice as well as comments on my current garb. I want to have something awesome ready for Okfest. Thanks everyone! :sword:

Pick some real historical outfits and looks (based on what you're wearing there, I'd say 13-16th C. range) and see what you like and what you can play with a bit. Then, distress it!

Holla if you want some more ideas/advice.

the garb your showing is a great start and doesn't relate design-wise to any of the personal styles i've seen so great job! to add to what arrakis said and to further the direction it looks like you're already going, combining traditional elements with modern changes (like the short skirt/coat in your pic) is gonna be your best bet. As long as you can move in it, you can fight in it.

as far as the distressed look, sand paper on embroidered fabrics from goodwill (like table cloths, which is a lot of fabric for CHEAP and often ornate) will make the threading look worn. and to help make shredding and tears look more costly, you can add fabric layers behind so the cut exposes another color or pattern.

Well done so far.

Acorn I really appreciate the sandpaper tip especially; I'm going to test it out very soon. I finally drew up a sketch for what I want to make in time for Okfest. Cannot WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!

Son of a bugbear, I didn't see that. Looked like a light reflection to me.

Okay, nevermind. Fails; get it off my field.
