I've been told.

I've hung out with Angel once or twice in my garb and even after drinking nothing happened. I think I'm safe. ;p

She can wear anything she likes. The silhouette of the top does * with the otherwise fantasy-period aesthetic she has going on, I think.

And I would very much recommend that women fighters invest in high-quality sports bras to fight in (under garb, of course). This is a sport; you need some support and compression, just as we men do.

I have recently found that is is my favorite fighting garb...
Image
It moves really well, its really comfortable, can be belted or not belted, though the sleeves of my chemise kept getting in my way when i was trying to shoot...so I may have to re think that...

Then my favorite feast outfit...

Here are some picks of the Valkyrie's from after the class and right before the battles afterward from Chaos Wars. Lots of the girls have great garb. Some are newer fighters so have basic/hap hazard garb. All of the girls were **** awesome.

note: There are a bunch a great picks of the Valkyries fighting but it's hard to see the garb in those pics so i'm not posting them here. Look through the CW albums if you want to see that.

/raises eyebrow. unless you count the group shots of the valkyries, I am in 3 and Rocca is in 2. of almost 50. EDIT: actually, scratch that. of 90+ photos.

And most of these girls play Bel. whether or not they also play Dag is irrelevant.

So, what is your point H?

Razia found this while she was looking for ideas for her new garb set up. For some reason I really liked the design so I decided to share it!

They look ok man. They are made out of reyon though... whis is absolutely terrible. Could make a skirt with inserts out of period materials for way cheaper. And would breath and last alot longer.

Rayon isn't too bad; it's still a natural fiber, and breathes a lot better than polyester. It also holds up pretty well to wear, though if you make a skirt like that yourself, you can probably put much better craftsmanship into it than that manufacturer did, regardless of which fabric you choose. If it came down to it, I, too, would prefer 100% linen, or maybe a linen blend (usually it's blended with rayon, IME).

Hmm, so female fighting garb is covered, but what about feast wear? I've read that you're supposed to wear relatively nice garb, and I saw a pic I believe in this thread of some nicely dressed people, but it looked more like garb you'd see on high class people at the Renaissance fair. Is there something a little more to toned down that would be appropriate?

what is appropriate depends on the person, their persona, and their tastes. Lots of monsters just get really monastery for feast. Plithut, who has TONS of garb, just adds a bib to normal garb and boom, he's in feast garb. I sometimes add a circlet, but generally wear the same thing. Others dress up classic renaissance fair style since otherwise they don't get a chance to really wear that garb, as fighting is very hard on clothes. Sometimes there is an award for best feast garb too, so that's another reason people have traditionally dressed up.

Do whatever you think would be the coolest looking; there are no real requirements (at least out west. i can't speak for eastern feasts.)

Atora Lynn wrote:Hmm, so female fighting garb is covered, but what about feast wear? I've read that you're supposed to wear relatively nice garb, and I saw a pic I believe in this thread of some nicely dressed people, but it looked more like garb you'd see on high class people at the Renaissance fair. Is there something a little more to toned down that would be appropriate?

Atora Lynn...are you talking about this?

If you are, there are 5 of us in out realm (the 3 in this photo and 2 others) who are also SCA members and so we have some super fancy stuff, that we just like to wear, its fun for us since we don't get to wear it all that often. We just like to "look good" as we say. You can wear anything you want to feast, it can be as fancy or not fancy as you want. We just enjoy garb.

Ah okay, thanks. =] That makes things a bit easier, I find trying to come up with one set of garb that meets my expectations is hard enough on my wallet, but if I had to add something fancy too...ugh. Btw yes that was the pic I was referring to, nothing against outfits such as those, they add variety, but I can't say I myself would wear such fancy clothes. Then again it's hard enough to get me in a dress at all. :P

Feeling comfortable with the cost, the style, the feel, and the look of your garb is what is important. Your garb is yours and in order to "own" it you have to be comfortable in it. Wear what you want, and make it yours. That is what is important about garb (so long as it is meeting the min. garb rules, preferably excelling them) and that is what people should start with. I feel at home in that dress, and my boys, in home in those outfits. What ever you wear, you need to feel at home in it.

You'd need pants.

Yes, but I've been told fighting in a corset is not as comfortable as one first thinks it might be.
