Koi Fish Embroidery

Postby Derian » Fri Jan 14, 2011 1:51 pm

My wife recently finished a pretty long (~70 hours) embroidery project for a new bag she's working on. Here's the pictures:

Inspiration

First, the pattern is drawn onto the fabric to be embroidered. This is with chalk.

Obviously chalk will tend to come off, especially with large embroidering, so the pattern is outlined with white.

All the colors laid out.

Here's the completed water sections.

Completed flowers.

And the finished embroidery.

Wow. That is really well done and I applaud her persistence. Does she usually do projects this big?

I'm glad you like it. It was fun to do.

Isk: Most of my projects vary in size from one another. This has been the biggest, in terms of hours and colors used, that I've done so far. The smallest pieces that I did only took a few hours and were just one color.

It's all done by hand, which obviously does take longer than using a machine, but you can do so much more with it when you do it that way.

You did a really nice job with it. My embroidery efforts only extend to creating PES files for a machine.

Absolutely lovely! I haven't seen anyone do embroidery like that by hand in quite a long time. I know I wouldn't have a patience for it...24 hours is about my limit.

Outstanding! I really love the way the scales are shaded and the level of detail in general. Truly great work.
